Bryant drops 73-61 road game to Wagner

Sunday, February 16, 2014

Senior Alex Francis had a big day, but his teammates...less so.

Francis scored a game-high 26 points Sunday afternoon, topping the 2000-point mark for his career in playing all 40 minutes, but the Bulldogs fell to Wagner on the road in Staten Island, NY 73-61.

Francis added 10 rebounds to go with his 26 points, but the Bulldogs struggled as a whole against the Seahawks.  Junior guard Dyami Starks finished with 11 points and three assists, but shot just 3-of-13 for the game, while senior guard Corey Maynard rounded out the Bryant double-figure scorers with 10 points.

Kenneth Ortiz paced Wager with 18 points and a game-high seven steals, and Latif Rivers added 15 points.  Wagner improves to 13-11 on the season, and 7-4 in NEC play...just one game behind the Bulldogs in 3rd place.  Bryant, now 16-10 for the year with five games remaining in the regular season, remains in second place (8-3) in the conference standings.  The Bulldogs will host Fairleigh-Dickinson Thursday night at the Chace Athletic Center in Smithfield at 7:00 pm.
