Despite a large outcry from a number of individual teachers, students, lawmakers and the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) itself, the March 1 deadline for school districts to notify teachers of potential layoffs for budgetary reasons once again came and went with apparently little momentum gained to change the current legislation on the books.
